The 2010 World Series Of Poker Main Event had over 7,000 participants when it started. One of the many was John Racener. Here’s how he made it to the 2010 WSOP Main Event final table.

2009 And 2010

John Racener really started his run of great finishes that led to the WSOP 2010 final table back in 2009. That year, he had four in the money tournament finishes and made one final table in a tournament. That was just a warm up for 2010, though.

He had three finishes in the top 60 in three Las Vegas poker tournaments in 2010. Those finishes earned him $40,000 and just paved the way to the Main Event. So, when the Main Event started, John Racener was already feeling good about his accomplishments.

Busy

John Racener keeps busy, too. He is one of the most experienced players at the WSOP final table, despite his young age and short number of years playing the game. A lot of that experience comes from playing on some of the world’s best-known poker playing websites.

So, whether you see “POCKET FIVE” on Full Tilt Poker, “5JMONEY5” on Ultimate Bet or “$30K” on PokerStars, be aware that you’ll be playing against John Racener, the man who could win the whole WSOP 2010. Whether it’s online or off, after all, he has a tendency to blow through his competition with ease.

So, no matter where you play online, you should definitely look out for this powerhouse at the poker tables.

The Next Year

The next year, he didn’t take a break either. Instead, he caught one. Just a month after his December third placement in the WSOP Circuit Championship, he went out on the bubble for the final table at the WPT (World Poker Tour) Borgata Winter Open tournament. He walked out with $166,000 in winnings.

He also played in the WSOP Harrah’s Circuit Event again that December and this time, unlike the previous year, he won the whole event. He won $379,000 in that event. Not only that, but he won the entire Circuit Ring, too.

Racener And The 2010 WSOP

In 2009, Racener made one final table. He also finished in the money in four major tournaments. Then, in 2010, he won $40,000 in a combined 3 top 60 finishes in various Vegas tournaments. It was all leading tot he 2010 WSOP Main Event.

Racener was in the top 15 players by the time day 5 of the 2010 WSOP rolled around. Then came day 6. By the time people broke for dinner, John Racener had the tournament chip lead. His pocket Q’s cracked John may’s Pocket A’s. Suddenly, he found himself with $4.5 million in chips.

John Racener is not just any poker pro. You’ve got to be skilled at the game, after all, if you expect to make the WSOP Main Event final table. Racener’s pro career began very early.

The Best Birthday Present

What would be the best birthday present in the world? Well, for John Racener it was winning $190,000 when he placed in the money in the WSOP Harrah’s Circuit event in 2006. He did it on the day that he turned 21 and he has never looked back.

More In 2006

Poker was just experiencing a boom in 2006 and Racener rode that wave like a professional surfer. He followed up his birthday win with a third place finish in the WSOP Circuit Championship in December of that year. He won $103,000 in the event, which took place in Atlantic city, far from Racener’s Port Richey, Florida home.

The Final Table

Finally, John Racener made the final table. So, he will be present in November when the 9 players go after the big prize. He’s only 25 years old, but he’s almost the most experienced player to make this year’s final table. Michael Mizrachi is the only other player with more experience and more wins than him that will be present. A lot can happen by November, but, no matter what happens, you can bet that John Racener won’t be happy with ninth place. He’ll do everything he can to come out on top at the final table.

If there is a player who has taken the world of poker by storm, it is John Racener. It was on his 21st birthday, when he was playing his very first live poker tournament, that he walked off with $190,000 which he won at the Harrah’s Circuit Event in WSOP 2006. He left the world gasping for breath at his confidence and skill in being able to pull off such a big win at his very first tournament.

As if that was not enough, he also won the Circuit Event along with the first one a year later. In this manner, he has already earned about 1.2 million dollars from live poker tournaments, and about $500,000 playing online.

He may be only 25 years old, But John Racener happens to be the second most experienced player to be participating in the World Series of Poker 2010. The most veteran player at the tournament’s main event is Michael Mizrachi.

His run at the WSOP 2010
He began his run at the 2010 WSOP in third place. Racener uses a particular name when he is playing – it reads like this: ‘$JMONEY$’. Whenever someone sees this mark, they are instantly able to recognize it as Racener’s. This autograph of his has to its credit a third place showing in April 2009 at Full Tilt $750,000 Guaranteed for $54,000 besides a win at the PokerStars $500,000 Guaranteed. Very few players can boast that!

Racener holds a 492 ranking worldwide at the time of his 2010 Main Event run. And according to PocketFives.com Rankings, his fortunes have been tracked to over one million dollars in online tournaments alone. If you visit PokerStars, you can find him under the screen name of $30K, as Pocket Five on Full Tilt, and as JMONEY on UB.com.

His background…
John Racener seemed to hit the poker scene in the United States when poker was going through a boom, sometime in 2006. A resident of Port Richey in Florida, this young lad ended up finishing in third place in the WSOP Circuit Championship that was being held in Atlantic City. He won himself a neat $103,000. Barely a month later, Racener won $166,000 at the final table of the World Poker Tour’s Borgata Winter Open. He just wouldn’t stop there. He won a staggering $379,000 in December 2007 at the WSOP Circuit Championship held in Atlantic City.

In the 2009 WOSP, Racener had four money finishes and one at the final table. He has come to Las Vegas in the 2010 tournament and has already got himself three top 60 cashes which amount to more than $40,000. By day 5, he had a top 15 stack in the $10,000 buy-in main event and had earned himself the third position at the secondary feature table. Day 6 saw him claim the chip lead by dinner time with 4.5 million chips. And finally, on Day 7 he shared a table with other poker greats like Tony “Bond18” Dunst, former “Survivor: China” castaway Jean-Robert Bellande, and Jeff “Mrrain” Banghart. If there is someone who has a strong chance of winning this year, it’s Racener!
